In the middle of the night...

Psychotherapist Toronto

...a few years ago, I was desperately fumbling around on the internet, trying to find some kind of solution for the rock bottom of emotion I was feeling. So many things were going on in my life and I just couldn’t find my way clear – I wasn’t sleeping well and I was just going through the motions. As I struggled to find answers, I came across a Relational Psychotherapist and decided to contact her. From my first visit, I could see this was going to be different - there was no "expert/patient" feeling. I wasn't being "diagnosed", I was being heard, and over time, subtle, powerful change happened for me. I have experienced so much change and healing, in fact, that I decided to become a Relational Therapist myself.

So first, let me recognize...

...how brave it is that you are here. No, I mean it. I didn’t feel brave that night when I was in the depths of despair, but I can look back now and see that night as a catalyst for change. It wasn’t just luck – it was searching and action and a desire for something different.

Here, you will find a safe and confidential place to explore yourself, your history, your story. Together, we will seek to understand that story, and how that can bring you forward to living the life you really want. This is a supportive place for you to be seen, heard and understood in a new way, to find a deeper connection with yourself - and new ways to relate to family and friends. Subtle but powerful adjustments and insights to your life strategies can tweak your ways of being in the world in order to create more healthy relationships and more daily satisfaction.

But, what exactly is Relational Psychotherapy? There is a wonderful explanation on the Toronto Institute for Relational Psychotherapy website https://www.tirp.ca, where I completed a three year intensive program.

TIRP has been training therapists for over 25 years, and is a comprehensive and rigorous program which includes academic coursework, clinically supervised client work, and mandated personal therapy for all students. I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

I am a member of the Canadian Association for Psychodynamic Therapy and am governed by their Code of Ethics
